Teen Singer Receives The Surprise Of His Life Before Putting Out A Heartfelt Audition

It’s something we’ve all dreamed of…making our parents proud. Aspiring singer Reuben Gray got to live out that moment at just 16-years-old, when he decided to audition for Britain’s Got Talent.

Despite his young age and lack of experience, Reuben put on a brave face when he got on to that stage. Aside from the large crowd, celebrity judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and David Walliams were all looking back at the teen as he introduced himself.

Reuben didn’t hesitate to give a shout-out to his dad who had been working hard abroad. He admitted that his devoted father was his “biggest fan,” despite only being home three times a year.

The Surrey-based teen warmed hearts when he said that all he wanted was to make his parents proud. He also added that it “didn’t feel right” to be on stage without his old man.

“I don’t feel like it’s right without him being here,” said Reuben, with a tinge of sadness in his voice. “The first thing I’m gonna do if I do well is give him a call.”

When Simon lightheartedly asked the teen to choose who his most prominent supporter was between mom and dad, Reuben promptly answered, “My dad, definitely.”

And right then, the teen singer heard someone in the audience say, “Yes, I am. I’m his biggest fan!”

To his surprise, his dad was sitting right there, a huge grin on his face! The sight was enough to make Reuben even more determined to ace his audition. He confidently took a seat at the piano and proceeded to play a track that he had composed on his own. Titled “Lifeline,” the song was dedicated to Reuben’s girlfriend, whom he had broken up and gotten back with not too long ago.

It’s safe to say that Reuben won everyone over with his voice. To make things even better, the camera was able to capture Reuben’s dad singing along.

When the song ended, everyone got to their feet to give the teen singer a well-deserved standing ovation. He managed to get four enthusiastic ‘yeses’ from the judges as well. Given his talent and stage presence, this should come as no surprise.

Reuben’s BGT audition ended with a heartwarming moment when his dad rushed to the stage to hug him. Just beautiful!
