Boy With Autism Aces BGT Audition With His Michael Jackson Cover

They keep telling us not to let fear or insecurity get in the way of our dreams. But that’s easier said than done, right? The inspiring young boy you’re about to meet knows exactly how this feels. But instead of letting his condition get the better of him, he decided to take a huge leap of faith and change his life forever!

10-year-old Calum Courtney was born with autism, a mental condition that affects social skills, behavior, speech, and nonverbal communication. It should be noted that there are several types of autism out there, with causes ranging from genetics to environmental influences.

For his part, Calum chooses not to be defined by his autism. Instead, he wants the world to know that people with the condition share the same passions and dreams as everyone else. So with fire in his soul and a song in his heart, Calum set out to perform before Britain’s Got Talent judges.

Now, we all know how intimidating it is to stand before a panel of judges and a live audience. So we can only imagine what would’ve been going through Calum’s head as he stepped on to the stage for his BGT audition. His family waited backstage looking just as nervous as the young boy.

Would Calum be able to deliver? Well, judging by this mind-blowingly remarkable performance, it appears that he did!

Calum’s song of choice was The Jackson 5’s “Who’s Loving You.” The minute he hit the first note, he’d won everyone over. He received a standing ovation and four enthusiastic yeses from the judges.

It turns out; this wasn’t the first time that Calum had drawn attention. His first brush with fame came after a video of him singing “Who’s Loving You” in British supermarket, Asda went viral. After he’d garnered two million views, the Internet officially gave Calum the nickname “Asda Boy”.

His mum Tupney has said that Calum has always loved performing in public. “He loves how it feels and hearing the sound of his voice when he sings,” she said. “He is always singing around the house and performing in public has never been a problem. The more people, the better for Calum when he is performing.”

This marks the beginning of Calum’s burgeoning music career. We sincerely hope he reaches new heights and inspires others to do the same.

Don’t forget to watch Calum’s inspiring BGT audition. His performance will undoubtedly inspire many more.
